Winter Driving Tips! |
By Gary E. Haffer
It's now February and the New England winter has officially set up shop. Along with the snow and slick roads, winter driving introduces another obstacle for drivers to deal with- getting your vehicle winter ready. Here are six winter driving safety tips on dealing with the winter weather.
Four Winter Driving Safety Tips
- Speaking of windshield wipers, make sure that you have plenty of windshield wiper fluid.
- Keep your gas tank full. Running out of gas is a problem in any type of weather. In the winter it can be even more dangerous because of the cold temperatures. An added benefit to a full tank of gas is that the added weight helps your vehicle with traction on slippery or snowy roads.
- Keep an ice scraper, small shovel, and an emergency kit, a tow rope, and a road flare, in your trunk. If you get stuck in bad conditions all of these items may come in handy.
- Always remember when you drive in inclement weather to keep plenty of space between you and the driver ahead of you.
