   Summer Car Care Tips
  • CLEAN AND PARK: Clean the car thoroughly and regularly. A good waxing will also help protect the paint..
    * Park in the shade. Experts say the hot summer sun that bakes the inside of the car can also cause gas to evaporate. Purchase a good windshield shade.
    * Don't leave children, pets or electronics in a parked car in the summer heat. Temperatures inside a car can climb to more than 160 degrees. The heat can damage all laptop computers, music players, cameras and cell phones. Sports equipment also can be ruined--tennis racquet strings can weaken and so can the graphite shafts of golf clubs. Forgotten makeup products, like lipsticks, can melt and stain the car's upholstery.
  • And before setting out on that road trip, pack a few items to make the trip easy and enjoyable:
  • * Drinking water
    * One gallon of 50 percent coolant to 50 percent water
    * One gallon of windshield washer fluid
    * 2 spare quarts of oil
    * A good flashlight with spare batteries
    * Sun block and insect repellent

Best Ever Jalapeno Poppers     PREP TIME 45 Min / COOK TIME 15 Min / READY IN 1 Hr
Ingredients
  • 12 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (8 ounce) package shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon bacon bits
  • 12 ounces jalapeno peppers, seeded and halved
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 2 quarts oil for frying
Directions:
  1. In a medium bowl, mix the cream cheese, Cheddar cheese and bacon bits. Spoon this mixture into the jalapeno pepper halves.
  2. Put the milk and flour into two separate small bowls. Dip the stuffed jalapenos first into the milk then into the flour, making sure they are well coated with each. Allow the coated jalapenos to dry for about 10 minutes.
  3. Dip the jalapenos in milk again and roll them through the breadcrumbs. Allow them to dry, then repeat to ensure the entire surface of the jalapeno is coated.
  4. In a medium skillet, heat the oil to 365 degrees F ( 180 degrees C). Deep fry the coated jalapenos 2 to 3 minutes each, until golden brown. Remove and let drain on a paper towel.
